I am IRON MAN: Elon Musk uses Siemens NX and Leap Motion to design like Tony Stark

In case you've been living under an "Apple IIe" for the last 15 years: Elon Musk is the founder of PayPal, Tesla Motors and SpaceX. He and his small group of international super-geniuses have brought products to the mainstream that you would only have thought possible in a Flash Gordon comic. His electric cars are currently the global standard, SpaceX is the leading private research company in the US, and he has mentioned that he may look into subway travel... if he has the time.
As if that wasn't enough, he's now taking aim at Iron Man. One of the coolest moments in these movies was when Iron Man, aka Tony Stark, designed and built his inventions in real time using his interactive design tool. He used his hands to manipulate 3D parts in a virtual workspace. Well, now Elon has something like that too. Since there was no such thing before, they built it themselves.
Interactive design tool: using Siemens NX, a Leap motion controller and a series of self-designed screens, Elon Musk has empowered his team to design parts and machines in a more organic way (and it's super cool!).

From SpaceX
SpaceX is exploring ways to help engineers accelerate their workflows by designing more directly in 3D. We're integrating breakthrough sensing and visualization technologies to view and modify designs more naturally and efficiently than 2D tools can. It's still early days, but we hope to create the fastest path between the idea of a rocket and the reality on the factory floor. Special thanks to Leap Motion, Siemens and Oculus VR, as well as NVIDIA, Projection Design, Provision and everyone who is enabling and challenging the world to interact with technology in exciting new ways.
How 3Dfindit is helping to shape the future of engineering today
As innovation continues to push the boundaries of what's possible, tools like 3Dfindit have become essential for engineers who want to keep up. This powerful 3D component search engine allows engineers to quickly find and integrate the parts they need, streamlining the design process. Just as Elon Musk and his team at SpaceX are using cutting-edge technologies like Siemens NX and Leap motion controllers to improve their workflows, engineers around the world are using 3Dfindit to accelerate their projects and bring breakthrough ideas to life with unprecedented speed and accuracy.
