Toshiba International Corporation expands 3D digital parts catalog to include medium-voltage drives and motors

Toshiba International Corporation's Motors & Drives Division recently expanded its online digital spare parts catalog to include medium voltage motors for open frame (WPII) and fully enclosed frame (Dura-Bull). These digital product models, created by CADENAS USA, were frequently requested by design engineers who needed accurate 3D CAD representations of Toshiba products for large-scale projects. Now engineers have quick and easy online access to the digital data they need, reducing design time and increasing the accuracy of their projects.

Toshiba International Corporation (TIC), a leader in the design and manufacture of motors, variable speed drives, controllers and other power electronics products, originally made its most popular products available for download through the digital parts catalog in 2009. The plan was to continually expand and improve the catalog, adding more specialty products year after year. By adding the medium-duty product families, TIC is making it easier for more engineers to configure, download and purchase the components they need.
Toshiba medium-duty drives are used in a wide cross-section of industries, including oil and gas, mining and OEM equipment.
"Originally, we offered our most popular products for digital download and received a great response," says Joe Hanna, Marketing Development Manager for Toshiba Motors & Drives Division. "Over time, we received many requests for more specialized products to be available in the same way. Engineers of large OEM products and industrial projects want the same convenience as other design engineers. They need the same fast turnaround time that can only be achieved with a digital on-demand catalog."
How many configurable products are there in the Toshiba catalog?
TIC selected CADENAS USA to provide its online product configurator due to its flexible implementation and the wide range of file formats available for customers to download. With more than 100 native and neutral formats, CADENAS offers one of the largest selections in the industry with native outputs for all major CAD systems, including Autodesk AutoCAD®, Autodesk Inventor® and Revit®, SolidWorks®, Solid Edge®, PTC Wildfire® and CREO®, Siemens NX®, CATIA® and others.
"Today, the goal of every company is to be 'easy' to do business with," says Jay Hopper, COO of CADENAS USA. "Ease of doing business is important for both sides of the transaction. Manufacturers and service providers want to be as simple as possible because their customers not only expect it, they demand it. By continually expanding its catalog, Toshiba has become'easy to work with' for another important industry segment."
