The Netherlands has produced a number of important technical inventions. Some of the most important are:

Microscope (16th century) - Important for the development of biology and medicine, developed by Hans and Zacharias Janssen.
Telescope (1608) - Invented by Hans Lippershey, fundamental to modern astronomy.
Pendulum clock (1656) - Developed by Christiaan Huygens, a significant improvement in time measurement.
Artificial heart muscle (1957) - Developed by Willem Johan Kolff, a pioneer in dialysis and organ transplantation.
Bluetooth technology (1990s) - Essentially developed by Jaap Haartsen at Ericsson, changed wireless communication.
