Toshiba International Corporation's Motors & Drives Division and CADENAS, a global provider of online product configurators, announce a quarterly increase of 360% for downloaded CAD models from Toshiba's online parts catalog. The catalog was recently upgraded to an embedded design, which places the 3D configurator directly on Toshiba's product pages, yielding higher results due to the simpler, more streamlined customer experience.

Toshiba International Corporation (TIC), a leader in the design and manufacture of motors, adjustable speed drives, controls and other power electronics products, originally launched its online product configurator in 2009. By providing an upgraded interface to the digital library of 2D and 3D CAD models, TIC is making it easier for engineers to discover, download, and purchase the components they need.

TIC originally selected CADENAS to supply its online product configurator due to the vast selection of file formats available for customers to download, as compared to other solutions. With more than 150 CAD and imaging formats available, CADENAS has one of the widest selections in the industry with native outputs to all major CAD systems, including Autodesk AutoCAD®, Autodesk Inventor® and Revit®, SolidWorks®, Solid Edge®, PTC Wildfire® and CREO®, Siemens NX®, CATIA®, and more.

The new electronic parts catalog retains the same high quality content TIC had previously offered with its CADENAS configurator, within an improved design focused on a better user experience. The new embedded design also helps TIC better retain and convert visitors to its site. After launching the improved configurator in the first quarter, the download rate of digital parts increased to 191,000, which represents a 360% gain from the 41,000 in the quarter prior to the upgrade.

"When we originally set out to implement our online product configurator, we were looking to set the pace for the motor industry by making high-quality downloadable files more accessible to our customers," adds John Rama, Business Director, Low Voltage Motors & Drives at TIC. "We're always looking for ways to improve the experience for our customers. We knew there were benefits of embedding our configurator seamlessly on our site rather than through a pop-up. We never expected such a significant increase of more than 300%, which shows we delivered what our customers wanted and exceeded our own expectations as well."

"TIC is really reaping the benefits of an improved customer experience," adds Jay Hopper, President and COO of CADENAS. "What seem to be small upgrades and modifications can yield great results when they help a customer navigate, search, and find what they need to do their job."

The remarkable 360% increase in CAD model downloads from Toshiba International Corporation’s online parts catalog, following the upgrade to an embedded design, highlights the critical importance of providing an intuitive and seamless customer experience. This success mirrors the advantages manufacturers can achieve by delivering CAD product data through platforms like 3Dfindit. By offering a vast, easily accessible repository of 3D CAD models, 3Dfindit enables manufacturers to streamline the design process for engineers, enhancing digital presence, boosting customer engagement, and driving higher download rates and sales.
