Thermocouple

A thermocouple is an electrical component consisting of two different metals. The two metal rods are connected together at one end and connected to two electrical contacts at the other ends. When one of the ends of the thermocouple is heated to a higher temperature than the other, an electric current flows through the device. The strength of the current is proportional to the temperature difference between the two ends. Thermocouples are manufactured in many different sizes and styles and are used in numerous applications, such as thermostats, lighters, and cookstoves.
